What Makes a Good URL Slug?
The slug is the last part of a URL, like /seo-course-coimbatore/. A good slug tells people and Google what the page is about before they click.

Put the keyword in
Use the main keyword of the page, ideally near the start of the slug.
Keep it short
Three to five words is plenty. Short URLs are easier to read, share and remember.
Use hyphens
Google treats hyphens as word separators. Underscores join words together.
Skip dates
A year in the URL makes the page look old next year. Put the year in the title instead.
Decide once
Set the slug before publishing. If you must change it later, add a 301 redirect from the old URL.

The slug is the part of a URL that identifies a specific page, usually after the domain, like /seo-course/ in www.example.com/seo-course/. It should be short, readable and describe the page.
What is the best length for a URL slug?
Keep it to around 3 to 5 words. There is no strict limit, but short slugs are easier to read and share, and they are less likely to be cut off.
Should I use hyphens or underscores in URLs?
Use hyphens. Google recommends hyphens to separate words. Underscores can make words run together.
Should I remove stop words like 'the' and 'and'?
Usually yes. Removing small filler words makes the slug shorter and cleaner, as long as the meaning stays clear. This tool never removes words from your focus keyword.
Can I change the URL slug of a published page?
You can, but always add a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one. Without it, links and rankings that pointed to the old URL are lost.
